Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Sergeant Major of the Marine CorpsMarine Corps Sgt. Maj. Daniel L. Krause assumed his current post as command senior enlisted advisor to The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps on 31 January 2026.
A native of Windsor, Colorado, he attended recruit training at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California in June 1994. He then started his career as an 3521/3259, organizational motor transport mechanic, serving in Iwakuni, Japan; Camp Pendleton, California; and Okinawa, Japan. He also served as a drill instructor, senior drill instructor, chief drill instructor, and battalion drill master, at the Marine CorpsRecruit Depot in San Diego, California.
Since 2007, Krause served as a command senior enlisted advisor/leader in Company A, Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry-West; company first sergeant, 3rd Battalion 7th Marine Regiment; company first sergeant, Alpha Company, Wounded Warrior Battalion-West; company first sergeant, Headquarters and Service Company, Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division; battalion sergeant major, 1st Battalion, 11th Marine Regiment; battalion sergeant major, 1st Combat Engineer Battalion; sergeant major of The Basic School, Quantico, Virginia; sergeant major, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Cyberspace Command, sergeant major of the 2nd Marine Division, sergeant major Defense Information Systems Agency and Joint Force Headquarters Department of Defense Information Network, senior enlisted leader of the Joint Force Development Directorate, Joint Staff (J-7).
Krause deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with two gold stars; Bronze Star with Combat "V" Device and two gold stars; Purple Heart; Meritorious Service Medal; Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with four gold stars; Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal; and the Combat Action Ribbon.
