MajGen Farrell Sullivan

At the helm of the legendary 2nd Marine Division, Major General Farrell J. Sullivan is charged with a singular, critical mission: ensuring the "Follow Me" division is ready to deploy, fight, and win at a moment's notice. As the commander of one of the Marine Corps' most storied fighting formations, he is responsible for generating the combat power that underwrites America's global response force, preparing his Marines and Sailors for any clime and place.

Major General Sullivan’s leadership is forged from a career spent at the tip of the spear. He has commanded at every level, leading Marines in the mountains of Afghanistan, across the deserts of the Middle East, and on contingency operations from the Balkans to the Horn of Africa. He led a rifle company in Kabul shortly after 9/11, commanded a battalion in the volatile Gereshk Valley, and commanded the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit through complex deployments and vital disaster relief missions.

His experience extends to the highest levels of strategic command. As the commander of Task Force 51/5th Marine Expeditionary Brigade, he orchestrated critical service and joint force operations, most notably leading forces during Operation ALLIES REFUGE, the historic non-combatant evacuation from Afghanistan. This unique blend of frontline combat leadership and strategic operational command gives him an unparalleled perspective on the demands of modern warfare. Today, he channels that experience into ensuring the 2nd Marine Division remains what it has always been: a force in readiness, lethal, and prepared to answer the nation's call.
