Commanding General, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic Commander, Marine Forces Command Commander, Marine Forces Northern CommandLeading the charge in providing combat-ready forces to commanders around the globe, Lieutenant General Frances Shea currently serves as the Commander of Marine Corps Forces Command and Fleet Marine Force Atlantic. In this vital role, she is directly responsible for the force generation, training, and equipping of the very ARG/MEU teams that are central to our nation's maritime strategy and the focus of today's discussion.
Her connection to the topics of maintenance and inventory began at the very start of her career. She first enlisted in the Marine Corps as a ground support equipment mechanic, giving her a foundational understanding of the critical importance of readiness from the ground up. This unique perspective shaped her entire career, culminating in her command of the 1st Marine Logistics Group, where she was directly responsible for the entire spectrum of combat logistics including maintenance, supply, and sustainment for a Marine Expeditionary Force.
Furthermore, Lieutenant General Shea is no stranger to the operational environment of the unit at the heart of this panel. She served as a staff officer for the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit during deployments to both Afghanistan and Iraq, gaining firsthand experience with the challenges and complexities of deploying American sovereignty afloat.
