
Mrs. Trish Smith
Spouse of the 39th CommandantUSMC SpouseTrish Smith was born in Lafayette, LA and raised in Houston, Texas. She is a graduate of Texas
A&M University where she received a BS in Education.
During her 36 years as a Marine
spouse, Trish has been an active volunteer for Marine Corps programs.
She has been a part of the family readiness program as a volunteer and as a part of the
command team at every level. Trish has been involved in the Cornerstone program where she served
o n the planning committee, facilitated small groups, presented on various topics and took part in
Senior Spouses’ panels. She facilitated in the revision of the Lifestyle, Insights, Networking,
Knowledge and Skills (LINKS program making it more flexible so spouses could complete the
course in modules. Trish has also been an active participant in the Brigadier General Select
Orientation Course (BGSOC) by participating on panels and mentoring new BG spouses. Trish was part of the Navy Marine Corps Relief Soci ety (NMCRS) gala committee for 2 years and a caseworker for NMCRS. She has been an advisor to many spouses’ clubs at various bases and to the thrift shop, gift shop, and NMCRS in Okinawa. Her most recent paid job was teaching the Department of Labor portio n of the Transition Readiness Seminar. Trish is currently serving on the
Board of Directors for the NMCRS and she is th e ship sponsor for the LHA 10, USS Helmand Province, expected to be commissioned i n a few years.
The Smith family has had the opportunity to enjoy several duty stations including Kaneohe Bay,
Quantico, Camp Lejeune, Camp Pendleton, Marine Barracks Washington, Okinawa, and Ft
Leavenworth.
They have also been stationed in Austin, TX, College Station, TX, and Caracas, Venezuela. When she is not doing pro bono work for the Marine Corps and nonprofit organizations, Trish enjoys running, boating, fis hing, and traveling. hing, and traveling. She and her husband have a daughter and a son who
are each happily married, along with a rescue cat from Quantico.
