
BGen Timothy Brady
Director, Capabilities Development DirectorateMarine Corps Combat Development CommandBrigadier General Timothy S. Brady, Jr. assumed the duties of Director, Capabilities Development Directorate, Combat Development and Integration on 17 June 2025. A native of Fairfax Station, VA, he graduated from The College of William and Mary and commissioned in the Marine Corps in December 1997 through the Platoon Leaders Course.
Brigadier General Brady has significant operational and tactical experience in the Fleet Marine Force to include assignments with 3d Battalion, 1st Marines (3/1), 2d Battalion, 2d Marines (2/2), and the 13th, 26th, and 31st Marine Expeditionary Units (MEU). He commanded 3d Battalion, 3d Marines (3/3) 2015-2017, and the 3d Marines and 3d Marine Littoral Regiment 2021-2023. He also served as the Assistant Chief of Staff, G3 Operations, U.S. Marine Corps Forces, Pacific/Fleet Marine Forces Pacific
He has deployed and participated in numerous operations to include the Operations BOLD SAMARITAN, DETERMINED RESPONSE, IRAQI FREEDOM, and NATO Operation ACTIVE ENDEAVOUR.
His staff and joint assignments include serving as Company Officer at the United States Naval Academy; Section Head, Readiness Branch, Plans, Policy, and Operations, Headquarters Marine Corps; Deputy Division Chief, Current Operations Division J33, Operations Directorate, and Deputy Executive Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Joint Staff; and Country Director for Japan, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense.
He is a graduate of the Amphibious Warfare School, distance education program; the U.S. Army Infantry Captain’s Career Course, where he graduated on the commandant’s list; the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, distance education program; the Naval War College, College of Command and Staff, Fleet Seminar Program; the University of Maryland, Leadership Education and Development Program, receiving the Gannon Award for Leadership and Academic Excellence; and the National War College. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, a Master of Professional Studies in Leadership Education and Development, a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies, and a Master of Science in National Security Strategy.
His personal decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit with gold star in lieu of second award, the Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star in lieu of second award, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with Combat Distinguishing Device and two gold stars in lieu of third award, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
